Mansfield Cinema

The Mansfield Armchair Cinemas are a unique community asset which gives local students the opportunity to join ‘The A Team’ and gain the skills and experience required to run a dynamic business. Operated as a not for profit trust, any surplus after paying those students is returned to the community through local organisations hosting fundraising film nights.

Established by James and Catriona Wilson during 2008, the project would not have been possible without the amazing support (both financial and physical) of the Foundation members. Dr Will and Margie Twycross of Central General Practice officially opened the facility at 7:32pm on Thursday May 28th 2009 after almost 12 months of research, design, fit out and training.

This twin cinema is currently the first and only fully digital operation of its kind in Australia and certainly considered a rare facility in a regional town the size of Mansfield.

With a seating capacity of up to 60 in a single cinema, the DCI compliant projector in the Club lounge enables digital quality images of all the latest blockbusters upon their general release. Two E Cinema systems also allow art-house style and other mainstream films to be viewed in both the Club lounge and the MAC theatre, which (with its extractable stage and screen) can also cater for live productions, concerts, music and seminar presentations using a state of the art interactive whiteboard.

Flexibility in the MAC’s seating design allows 103 people to enjoy in comfort a simultaneous screening in both cinemas, with 20 business club seats upstairs on each mezzanine. Cinema club seating on the ground floor can be alternated with 12 luxurious Gold Class style leather recliners or “Gold Class” for kids (or kids at heart) with 10 3-seater beanbags.

Membership is critical to the ongoing viability of the MAC, and from just $25 for kids and up to $45 per year for adults, you can enjoy big discounts on entry as well as 10% off candy bar purchases.

Upgrading your MAC membership to one of the monthly club membership options from just $19/month  a single and $49/month for families where you are credited with movie tickets.

Also receive free seating upgrades  . Ask any of the team for membership forms and details of club sessions.

Remember this is a community based cinema and is Australia’s ONLY fully digital operation. All profits are returned to local students and other local organisations, grab something from the candy bar or off the club menu, tell your friends and most importantly keep coming back. Enjoy the movie!
